People of Pinnacle – The Yoga Hub

By Melody Pereira

The Downtown District includes not only Front Street, but also the West Side of Pinnacle Street! We’re excited to introduce you to some of the People of Pinnacle you may have not met before, or who you want to get to know better. Let’s shine the spotlight on the Downtown District’s very own: Pinnacle Street! We learn their stories and discover more about the events and motivations that have led them to their successful businesses today. Let’s get into it …

The Yoga Hub

The next stop on our People of Pinnacle virtual tour was a check-in at The Yoga Hub. Owner Shelagh Binks shared more about her business, what it’s all about, and what makes it so unique!

Voted the Bay of Quinte’s Best in the Bay Yoga Studio, The Yoga Hub is an amazing asset to the Downtown District and the perfect place to go to for all of your yoga and wellness needs.

The Yoga Hub offers a wide variety of yoga classes including Restorative, Yin, Hatha, Gentle Hatha, and Vinyasa Flow. They also provide the availability for private yoga if that is what you are desiring from your experience. Teachers are also available to lead yoga practices in the workplace. Sound Baths, talks on Ayurveda, Yin Deep Vibes are also offered by the staff here at the Yoga Hub. Treatments on offer also include Bowen Therapy, Thai Yoga Massage, Thai Foot Massage, and Reiki.

The Yoga Hub opened in May of 2018 where Shelagh had visions of creating a Yoga-centred place to gather. She wanted to gather as many Yoga teachers in the area to share their passion and love for Yoga with the people of Belleville all in one place! The name symbolizes the true “hub” nature of The Yoga Hub in the central Belleville downtown community. A one-stop-shop and THE place to be for all things Yoga.

The Yoga Hub embodies a truly unique nature in focusing on the inclusivity of the practice. They truly emphasize that Yoga is for everyone, at every stage of life. It is emphasized that the benefits of practicing yoga can be experienced whenever you start. Yoga is not about fitness, but rather about overall wellness. While a shared goal at The Yoga Hub is fitness, it is surely not the only goal and whole-body health is highlighted.

Shelagh shares that her key driving force to becoming an entrepreneur was the drive to share her love for Yoga with as many people as possible. She chose the location on Pinnacle Street to do so under the belief that:

“Being part of the Downtown was the only place in Belleville to be”

She shares that the pre-existing “hub” nature of the Downtown District drew her in and inspired her for her business. It’s wonderful community feel draws people in and gave Shelagh the feeling of adding to the community, something beyond just her business.

For Shelagh and her team at The Yoga Hub, each day is a new experience, and no two days are the same. Within the last 18 months, with everything going on in our world, there have been many hats for The Yoga Hub team. Shelagh looks forward to more straightforward times in the studio again, gathering with others to share the practice of yoga with the community and her students. Treatments are a normal part of her day, helping others relieve pain that they are either living with or trying to recover from. Supporting the other yoga teachers and keeping up with social media studio promotions and email newsletters are also involved in a day at work for Shelagh.

Be sure to follow along with The Yoga Hub on their Facebook and Instagram pages. Stop into the studio for a great, transforming yoga experience at 354C Pinnacle Street! Experience it for yourself!
