Stories of Downtown
Echo Hair, owned by Sandy and Rachelle
When visiting the businesses of Downtown Belleville, you get to take in the beautiful facades of the storefronts, discover unique local and international products, and dine on delicious food. You may catch a glimpse of the owner as they whiz by; the life of a small business owner is hectic—they want to engage with the customer, though they also must be the boss, the marketing expert, the cleaner, the server, the accountant, and that could all be before noon! We wanted to give those business owners an opportunity to slow down for a moment and share their story. Because behind each storefront are people who had a dream and put in a whole lot of work to make it come to life. These are some of the stories of Downtown Belleville.
Echo Hair is a mother-daughter owned salon that has been a staple in Downtown Belleville since 2016 located at 208 Pinnacle Street. They offer a full range of hair services for all ages and hair types in a relaxed atmosphere. With a combined 48 years of experience, Rachelle and Sandy have dedicated themselves to making every client feel welcome and beautiful. Recently, Bella’s Nails, led by Isabelle, joined the salon, expanding their services to include manicures and nail art. With this addition Echo Hair is truly a one stop shop for an amazing self care experience!
When asked about what drew them to Downtown Belleville, Sandy highlighted the historic architecture, vibrant boutiques, and great local restaurants. They feel their salon’s peaceful and homey atmosphere fits perfectly within the unique charm of downtown. Their favourite part about Downtown Belleville is the strong sense of community and the distinct character that sets it apart from malls and plazas. When talking with Sandy and Rachelle they outlined their commitment to using proudly Canadian-made products and their desire to make everyone feel welcomed and beautiful. As a mother-daughter team you can be sure when you are at Echo Hair you are treated like family!
Of course before we left we asked our favourite question- what their favourite dining spots in the downtown are! After some debate Sandy decided on their neighbour around the corner, Dinkel’s and Paulo’ Restaurant and Rachelle, while noting all were good, she had to choose Bourbon St Pizza. It was a pleasure learning about Echo Hair and their role in making Downtown Belleville a vibrant and welcoming place. Keep following along for more Stories of Downtown!
