Welcome back to All in, Al Fresco! My name is Melody (she/her) and I am the Downtown District’s Marketing Assistant Summer Student for 2021. Follow along with me each week for updates as we dive into the details of all the exciting things that will be happening at our hugely successful summer event – Al Fresco.
Al Fresco is back for its second year this summer until August and we are so excited for all the fun to be had. Al Fresco means “done or eaten in the open air” and this signature event is designed so that visitors can enjoy the summer rays while supporting the downtown business and promoting community!
So, get ready to come do it Al Fresco in the District with me!
Tête-à-tête Thursdays
Have a seat and enjoy your Downtown takeout on one of our tête-à-têtes today for Tête-à-tête Thursday and be entered for a chance to win big!

Music In the Air Fridays
Find the beat or show us your best moves downtown this Friday for Music in the Air Fridays, featuring live music hosted by businesses in the Downtown District!
Check out Gourmet Diem, Cafe Sans Souci, Capers, Uptown Funk Styling, Export Grill and The Smokin’ 116 Bistro online for updates on who is playing when and where.
Breakfast Club Saturdays
Enjoy breakfast indoors or outdoors this weekend with Breakfast Club Saturdays in the Downtown District as our local restaurants cook up some amazing gourmet food.

Morning Market ft. Side Hustle
The perfect easy start to the weekend … The downtown market featuring Side Hustle is coming back to the Downtown District this Saturday from 9am – 1pm. Make your way to the street closure on Front Street for amazing finds from local artisans. With many different unique products from t-shirts to jewelry to greeting cards, there truly is something for everyone! Check out the morning market lineup on the Side Hustle Instagram or Facebook page to see what we’ve got in store.
Patio time!
Enjoy a delicious meal outdoors on any one of our many scenic patios. The Downtown District has a selection of patio restaurants from city views to the waterfront, there’s something for everyone! Take advantage of the warm weather while it is here, and be sure to try all our incredible patios out for yourself this season.

Painted Pianos
Stop by Century Village to test your talents at the keys with not just one but two painted pianos for public enjoyment. Local artists have worked hard to create these beautiful designs for the Downtown District to enjoy. Put your musicality to work with us. If you’re not so musically inclined, give the players an audience and show them your amazing Downtown Belleville support!
